Thursday's report

From: Kit Danley

I watched my daughter Heather take care of her sweetest friend Katy today. She hasn’t had much sleep in many days. We watch each other a lot right now, asking often, “how are you, today”. This was a hard day for that conversation. We watch Katy, listening to her face; listening to her movements, hearing her strength through this weakness. We listened that way again today.

Psalm 139:17-18
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God!
They are innumerable! I can't even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up in the morning,
you are still with me!

Tomorrow Katy will be released from the hospital. Rick and Patty (Katy’s parents) called a family pow-wow today with Lenny and Amy to ask each other what’s next. “Where will Katy do her treatments?” “Should we all stay here with her in Phoenix or take her home to Indianapolis” was the main topic of conversation. Amy clinched it with her reply, “she is home”. So the decision was made. Today we began to think and pray about where they will live in Phoenix and how soon they can find a place. Our prayer list for this is easy: somewhere close enough to The Neighborhood Center and the hospital (which is not far from the center) and has some space for guests. We’re expecting the guests to keep coming! So a few folks are searching … hoping to find someplace soon. Meanwhile, tomorrow seems kind of far away. Each day defies time as we normally have known it.

Psalm 130:5, 6
I pray to GOD-my life a prayer—
and wait for what he'll say and do.
My life's on the line before God, my Lord,
waiting and watching till morning,
waiting and watching till morning.

Dear Katy and all,
Just read Kit's update for today. Wow--a big decision. I'd been wondering where Katy would have treatments.
I woke up in the middle of the night and prayed for all of you--Katy, Amy, Lenny, Patty, Rick, Kit, Heather, Dr. Willis and all the medical staff helping, as well as the ministry staff. And also the pray-ers--all the people who are praying for you. Back to the Aaron and Hur illustration (they have come up a lot recently)--we not only hold all of you up directly, but we need to be holding each other up as we intercede.
Our big magnolia tree by the porch is in full bloom, in all its pink-shaded glory. I thought, it is blooming for you, Katy. I wish I could send you a branch, but I don't think it would make it out there.
I like what Dan Hamilton wrote, and I thought, too, that the women on Sunday morning, coming to the tomb, and the disciples walking to Emmaus, all thought things looked bleak--till they saw the One who was with them.
God is with you, my dear, and with all of you. Our prayers are ongoing.
We love you!
Patty, if you need me to do anything for you while you are out there, let me know.
Love, Miriam :)

Katy Katy – Katie arrived home last night, I am glad she back in Indy, but I know it was hard for her to leave Phoenix. We hear you have wonderful friends there!

I put off sending an email because, I did not know what to say – Should I tell you how we hurt for you and your family, or should we try to cheer you up?
Therefore, this message is a bit of both:

Katy, thank you for being such a wonderful, Godly friend to our Katie. You continue to influence her life with your grace.

Patti and Rick – thank you for raising Katy to be who she is. We cannot say we know what you are going through right now, but we care!

Over the last few days between tears, God would remind me of some the happy times: the one that made me laugh the most was your grandmother’s lipstick being chewed up by our dog and smeared all over the carpet! Oh what a mess! So get better and we will send you a case of lipstick!

We have a friend – David Lewis who is also suffering from a brain tumor. David has works with international missions and was with us on our first mission trip to Africa. Our Pastor, sent an email prayer a few weeks ago, that touched my heart so much I saved it and have now made it my prayer for you: “Lord, there lies Katy, your servant, your child, a dear friend to many. Beside Katy are her beloved family and friends, look upon them all with mercy … provide your peace, comfort, and strength only possible by Your presence & Spirit. In addition, Lord, you know my heart, please touch Katy. Please guide those wonderful servants of healing in the medical profession who are there. And, yes, Lord, we pray … give the healing only possible from your Hand … in the strong name of Jesus – Amen.”

We love you all!

Katy, Patti, Rick, Lenny, Amy - Praying for you to have continuing strength and wisdom, good rest and good medical reports. The outpouring of prayers and praise for your health and spirit must surely be an inspiration to anyone joining in this impromptu community of prayer. May it be a huge inspiration and comfort to you especially. Our best wishes go to each of you. The Batt Family

I dont think much time goes by in a day where i am not reminded of you. I think of you through out every day. Wishing I could make it all better, but I cant. But God can. One day at a time. He will heal you. Continue looking up at Him and He will never leave you. You have touched more lived then I have the space to write in, it is amazing. May you focus on you, rest, and take care of YOU now. You were MOMMA KATY at Biola always taking care of us, now it is your turn, let people help. :) I love you. Think of you daily and have prayer more prayers and seek more comfort and healing for you each day. I will come see you. I promise this. I am glad you are staying in Phoenix, sounds like an amazing staff working with you and an outpour of support.
You family always seemed the best, and they are. How blessed you are to have them giving their 1001% to you helping you. What an amazing example of what family should be. Always there for one another no matter what. May God provide the resources for them, may he give them strength, peace, and a hope. May God be with all of you in this confusing time. May you keep your eyes on Him and grow even closer to Him and together.
I love you. I admire you. Always have, now just in a bigger light. You never cease to amaze me katy. You are a dear friend. and I miss both you and heather. things just arent the same without you two around. I have never lost thought of you two. Know that, please, trust that.
Love and hugs, and many prayers. see you soon as i am trying to figure how to work it out. we are in the middle of a lot here as a family too, but never to far to make something work out.

Katy,
I'm thinking about you and praying for you every day. What a wonderful God-given privilege it has been having you as a friend, a colleague, and a presence in my life. A lot of memories have been popping into my mind these last few days.

I remember when you dressed up as a princess for the StoryBook Parade. I was very impressed with your costume. You told me, "See, you can wear a bridesmaid's dress a second time!" How about the time in the lounge when we were bugging you about meeting guys. You said that you wanted one who didn't want to be in a band so we were thinking maybe a guy with lots of money and Melinda said once you meet him, set her up with his rich uncle.

You were always so generous to me. You helped me set up the sight word vocabulary program on my computer and you gave me the rocker with the broken slats. Remember how that happened? How about the spork (cafeteria utensil)
incident? You could have written a book!

You gave me support when I needed it; you listened to me and always made me laugh. I appreciate all that you have done for me. What a blessing you have been to me! When you told me that you were leaving, I was so sad...I was embarrassed because I couldn't stop crying, remember? Working with you was such an incredible and awesome experience. I'm positive that all whom you have touched at some point in their lives feel the same way.

Your sweet and caring spirit has been surely missed around here. You were and still are a one of a kind, one in a million...a once in a lifetime kind of friend that only few in this world are lucky enough to have found.

Thank you for all that you are and for all that you mean to those around you. I pray that God will grant you and your family strength and comfort always.

May the blessings of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ be with you always.

Your Friend Always,
Pano

Katy,
I am amazed at the influence that you have had on the children of Ocean View. I have some of your darlings from that first year-Rudy, Nick, and Nataly. They speak so highly of you and their faces brighten up when they think of you. They have all turned out to be great kids and I give you a tremendous amount of credit.
I continue to pray for you and your family every day. I am blown away by the amount of love that has been shown for you. It is a true testament to your character.

Katy
I've never wanted an answer to a prayer more than I have now. You and your family are in my prayers and my family's prayers every day. I've learned some much more about you by reading all of the messages that have been sent to you. You make me want to be such a stronger contributor to the world because you are who you are. You have done nothing but give your love to so many people and we are all stronger beings for that. I hope to talk with you soon and know that I love you and think of you often. Katy-I guess you are the first one that is going to be able to get me on a plane! I love you!

Patty, Rick, Amy, and Lenny my family is here for you to help you with anything. Please don't give it a second thought to ask for our help, even if it is the smallest of tasks. I love you!

Dear Katy and all the Reels,
Just a note to say we too are continuously praying for all of you during this process. God knows the answers to all the "whys." We certainly don't! I'm so glad He is trustworthy and in control and that He is very near. Our love and thoughts are with you all.

Katy: Your strength is such an inspiration to us all. We love you and "check in" each day to keep up with your progress. Please know that our love reaches all the way out to you in Phoenix to surround you with prayers and good wishes.

To Patty, Rick, Amy, and Lenny: I know that you have probably been innundated with offers to help you in any way with things here in Indianapolis. But I want to offer our help as well to the group. We are so close to your home, and we would be more than happy to help with anything at your house, or provide assistance with your parents if need be.
We pray for you each day; please know that our love transcends the miles for all of you.

Dear Katy and family,
Love, thoughts and prayers from the Lubbers' family. I sit here at the computer struggling to find some "perfect words." In my weakness, I realize I have none, but we do worship a perfect Savior. In the same way you care for and love the children you serve, God is tending to you and your needs. And, we celebrate that He IS a God of miracles. We are joining our prayers with those of countless others for your strength, comfort, peace and healing.

Patty and Rick, as you are away please know that we are hoping for ways to be of help. Whatever...whenever.

Love, Mark and Teresa

Dear All,

We are praying for Katy and all of you plus all the Reels and Wrights and Powells and Dalys as we work through this. Thank you for putting Psalm 139 up there on the message board. We'll read Psalm 18:2 also for God as Katy's continuing shield and presence. We will pray for an appropriate place for Patty and Lenny, and thank God again for Amy's safe delivery to Arizona. Katy (and everyone there)-
Tim and I just got back from London and were told the news. I caught myself up on all the blogs. I love you and of course am praying along with everyone. We will come out to Phoenix when things stabilize a bit. Katy, you've taken care of so many people in your life and now the tables are turned. I'm just glad there are so many amazing people there for you and your family. My mind and heart are with you though my body is not.

Katy,

We talked about you yesterday in ABF at TAB and told everyone of this Blog address. Your extended family at TAB is so concerned. We pray often and fervently for you and Rick and Patty and the rest of the family. In "the prayers of the people" you are always raised before the throne. We feel so helpless because we love you all in Christ and want to be helpful. Isn't our Lord great in that before we were even created he provided Pray a means for all Christians everywhere to bring mutual requests and praises before Him and encouraged us to do so. So that's where we are Close by in Prayer for YOU and your family. He is Faithful! We will Pray.

In Christ, Al Wills a friend of your Dad.

Katy,
I don't know you, but this blog was in a friends' profile asking us to pray for you. Know that you are being prayed for. I have read through this blog and I am amazed at all of the work you have accomplished and your tenacity to move where no one thought anything could be done. I am training to be a nurse to help people just like you. Today, you have encouraged me to work harder and put even more effort into my studies because they are for you now Katy. I love you and I am praying for you. May the peace of God which trancends all else guard your heart and mind.
