Blog update
A quick update:
Dr. Shapiro reported that the Tumor Board approved my enrollment in the Clinical Trial using Temador and Motexafin Gadolimium if I choose, if not they recommended that I have no further treatment at this time, but be closely monitored. That study is in Phase I, although Dr. Shapiro said that the dose has already been determined. Our next appointment with him is in 2 1/2 weeks. So essentially one of the options has been eliminated: Temador for a year (which is what he has been talking about for a month.)
Answers to prayer:
1. The tumor board information is another piece in the puzzle toward making the larger decision about treatment.
2. I am close to being off of the steroids
3. I have had several opportunities to be in the Head Start classroom this week and will get to see 9 of my favorite little ones graduate on Thursday
4. I am having a reaction to my medication, so tomorrow I will try a new one (but hey third time is the charm, right?) I am just thankful they have so many types for me to try.
Praise God for all of these blessings!
:)Katy

Dear Katykins,
Thanks for the update. (I'm so glad I decided to recheck the blog right now, even though I had looked at it early this morning!) I was wondering what you had heard from the Tumor Board. You are in my thoughts and heart and prayers. I hope the new meds help with the reaction. And I will call your mom sometime...sorry I wasn't able to this past weekend.
God bless you and keep you, and your whole family, and make His face shine upon you.
Love, Mother Miriam :)
Bless you in all of your optimism. You are an inspiration to us all.
Love,
Don, Denise, Michelle, and Angela
Hello Katy,
Both Sperry and I are praying for you and the medical decisions that you have to make. We hope and pray that God will continue to work his miracles through you and restore you to complete health. School will be over in two days...YEAH! Today was Fitness Fun Day but believe me, after the age of 40, I found out that after spending 2 hours in the hot sun and running around with all the screaming kids in the primary grades, I'm definitely not fit or fun! Maybe we need to change the name of the day to something else like Fitnessless Fogie Day...I'd "fit" right in!!!
We heard from our adoption agency and we will, God willing, be going to Russia in August to meet our two darlings for about a week. We will then be assigned a court date and will go back a few weeks later and pick them up. Please pray for us that the adoption/bonding/court process goes smoothly for us.
You continue to be in our thoughts and prayers and we hope that all is going well with you and your family. Have a wonderful night and I'll write soon.
Lots and Lots of Love,
Pano

I pray that the Lord gives you strength and courage to make the best decision for you and your treatments! What a blessing to have several options to choose from and that you have been able to try to get back to your normal routine! It was so great to see you in Indy! You looked fabulous! You continue to be an inspiration to us all! Love you!

Hi Katy,
Glad to get an update. Please keep us informed. I hope you had a great time seeing some of the kids graduate today. I am glad you will get to work with some of the headstart children. That will add some meaningful spice in your life! Hang in there.

I am praying that you and your family find encouragement in this news from the Tumor Board.
I will pray that new medication works out well and that you can continually get back to a more normal life and enjoy your little ones.
Take care of one another. Please know we are all praying continually.
Hugs and blessings to all

Katy,
I am so happy that you will be able to participate in the clinical trial using both drugs. In speaking with the Oncologists at my hospital, they said they have seen great results with our patients that are currently taking part in a similar clinical trial. I hope that you will not have a reaction to the new meds as well.
I am so sorry that I missed the Family reunion on the 11th but, I am flying back with my Dad this weekend to celebrate his 80th birthday and he just couldn't sustain the stress of flying back and forth so soon. Therefore, we had to make the decision to only come back for his birthday party. My brother's told me it was a wonderful event though. I saw the picture of you and all of your cousins and I have to say, you looked as beautiful as ever. I hope to see your Grandfather and Grandmother (Anna) this weekend. I know my Dad is looking forward to spending some time with them.
I pray for you everyday and I believe with all of my heart that you are going to be completely healthy once again because you live your life for the glory of GOD. Katy, you Truly are an inspiration to us all.
Please know that I love you and cherish you and your amazing family with all of my heart.
Love Always and Forever...
Karen Craft
