A Note from Katy!

Dear Friends and Family,

I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
My soul will boast in the LORD;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the LORD with me;
let us exhault his name together.
I sought the LORD, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
Psalm 34:1-4

I cannot even count the miracles I have seen in these amazing days! God has blessed me beyond anything that I could ever have imagined. It was just a few weeks ago at our board and staff retreat as we were casually talking about our biggest dreams in life, that I mentioned without hesitation my biggest wish would be to have all of my friends and family in one place, to have everyone that I loved to know each other. Miraculously in the last few days friends and family have flown in from all over the country and I have received countless phone calls, emails and blogs. The people that I love dearly are knowing and loving one another.

I received phenomenal care from everyone I encountered at Good Samaritan Hospital (it helps to have a nurse for a best friend). I will look back on my time in the hospital as knowing the presence of God in a more intimitate way than I ever have. He gave me such an incredible sense of peace.

I am so thankful to be in my own home in the care of my friends of my family.

Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, gifts, hugs, meals, phone calls, cards, balloons, flowers, and visits. This outpouring of love is incomprehensible. May you know this day how great your Father's love is for you. I will continue to thank God and pray that you know his goodness each day.

I will keep you posted as I begin chemo and radiation late this week or early next week.

All my love!
Katy

You are an incredible woman of God Katy Lee. Praise to Him for your life and all that it has meant not only to me but to thousands of others it would seem. God has used you mightily even in this scariest of times.

PS- I called but I know your phone is out of order. Just so you know I've been trying to reach you to tell you I love you. This is probably more effective. I'm here for all that you need, all you have to do is say the word.

I can't begin to tell you how much you (and all your dear family) are in our constant thoughts and prayers. What an incredible example of faith you are for us all! How very encouraged we are as we read not only your message but all the messages of those who love you and are praying for you!
It is warm in Indianapolis right now and last night we slept with our windows opened. I was awakened at 4:50am by the very loud singing of birds outside our window. "Good heavens!" I thought. "It is pitch dark out! Don't those silly birds know that the sun doesn't come up for another hour or so!" - and yet, there they were singing with all their might in eager anticipation! And then I thought of you - and your family - and all those who have the privilege to walk through this dark time with you. The world may think us silly, but we can rejoice and sing for all the beautiful sunrises that God has promised will come - some that are already occurring!
"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."
1 Corinthians 1:18
Joyfully singing with you,
Susie and Duane Anderson

Hi, Katykins!
How wonderful to hear from you. You are on my mind continually, and when I wake up in the midst of the night (BEFORE Susie's birds wake up!), I pray for you and all your family. Kirsten and Heather are trying to figure out how and when to come out and see you--I know they will be in touch.
God's messages to me lately have been to take each day as it comes and enjoy it and thank Him for all it brings, so I will pass that on to you. I can say thank You to Him for hearing from you today! God is holding you in His loving and caring hands. We are all praying for all of you.
Love, Mother Miriam

Katy: My friends, Rudy and Kafi Carrasco, also selected Psalm 34 as their anchor passage last summer when their 4 yr old was diagnosed with leukemia. He is doing very well. www.urbanonramps.com/psalm34

Hey Katy,
It was great hearing from you. Thanks for the update. Yesterday Krista filled me in on her visit to see you this past weekend. Sperry and I have been thinking of coming out to visit sometime in the near future; I spoke to Deanna and she too, may come out sometime, maybe with us. All of us here at Ocean View are keeping you in our thoughts & prayers. May the grace of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ be upon both you and your family, and may He give you all that you need during your time of treatment. Have a wonderful day and may the light of God's love shine upon you always.
With Love,
Pano

Dear Katy,

This is "Dr. Beth" -- Gail Saraydar from Head Start wrote me last night about your diagnosis and surgery. I was floored and shocked and deeply saddened ... and then I went on this blog site. I am amazed by the intimacy and outreach that can be achieved by the internet -- so much love is instantly gathered around you. And all who need your news can receive it and hear you -- what a priceless thing.

I am deeply moved by all you and your family are going through, and by what your physical crisis is deepening and/or awakening in others, including myself. You are a very very bright light, Katy -- I thought so from the moment I met you, consulting on one of your troubled little ones. Your gifts are singular and abundant, and your connection to God inspires me. My prayers for you will join all the others, and your grace and faith inspire me as I hold you in my heart.

I am amazed by you, again, Katy. After a long absence from talking to you or Anne or Katie, I ran into an email Anne had sent about a change in email address. I replied to see how things were going since it had been literally years. Imagine that I emailed her right after she got back from Phoenix. She told me what was going on. Things definately happen for a reason. You are in my thoughts and prayers constantly as well as my family's and classmates. I am actually in nursing school now, so I have been reading the postings for every detail.

You have always been an example of unfaltering faith for me and this hurdle seems to be no different. I pray for your strength as well as that of your family. I also pray for all of those involved in your care. That they may realize what a beautiful spirit they are working with and healing.

Love,
Amy Phemister
