An amazing report!

From: Kit Danley

Dear Loved Ones,

I’ve been hurrying all day to get this message out to you. So, finally I’m here with you on the computer.

Katy had her appointment this morning with the radiation oncologist. Do you remember her message from yesterday where she told us that her tumor pathology finally came in and it has a name; it is an Anaplastic Oligodendroglioma and we also heard yesterday that it was stage 3, instead of 4. Well today we heard what that means in terms of treatment.

This kind of tumor (versus the kind they thought she had) responds better to treatment. So far, amazing news! Also, the tendrils (those microscopic cells that go out from the original tumor that cause the tumor to regrow) of this kind of tumor don’t go out as far and therefore are easier to kill with the chemo and radiation. Really amazing news!

In fact, we cannot contain this news, for it is the first good news in these last many days. So this is the way the doctor is telling Katy about the hopefulness of her situation. This kind of tumor has a 60% chance of CURE! Wow … how do we embrace this news. First, with reality. Our dear sister still has lots of treatment ahead. Monday she begins radiation which goes Monday through Friday every day for six weeks. There is a chance she will also have chemo treatments alongside the radiation. She might be sick, lose her hair and battle with fatigue. But secondly, we …

Resonate with the Psalmist in Psalm 34:

Join me in spreading the news;
together let's get the word out.

GOD met me more than halfway,
he freed me from my anxious fears.

Never hide your feelings from him.

When I was desperate, I called out

Open your mouth and taste,
open your eyes and see—
how good GOD is.
Blessed are you who run to him.

Keep praying dear friends. Our Katy is not out of the woods, but today we heard good news! That is so amazing.

Glory to God in the highest! What great news...I don't think I've ever wanted anything so badly or prayed as hard as for you to heal...May the Lord hear all our prayers and restore your health. Since I heard of your illness, not a day goes by that you are not thought of or prayed for. I will continue to pray for you throughout the day, every day.

My friend Jerry likes to use the following call and response during worship:

Speaker 1: God is good...
Speaker 2: ...all the time!

Can there be any doubt in the face of such wonderful news? God IS good, ALL of the time. Praise to Him for His faithfulness to Katy. Your Tab family continues to lift you up in prayer; now, in addition to prayers for comfort and healing, we can add our prayers of thanks and praise. God is GOOD, all the time!

Yea! Katy! Our prayers are being answered. I have never prayed so much in my entire life. People you have only heard of and have never met are praying endlessly for you and your family. (We'll talk names later:)I love you so much. Please know that I am only a phone call/note away.
My class went on a field trip today. It was pure comedy. One of these days I will have to fill you in. Wish you could have been there. But, pictures will have to do.

Hi Katy,

PRAISE HIM! It's Cristina Santos, Victory Outreach Phoenix. We haven't met yet. YET! Your note about the way you'd never experienced such a presence of God and how you were filled with so much peace......takes me back to just 3 years ago in April (mind you). I spoke those exact words and felt what you felt. I still do. Yes. To God be the Glory.

I had a ruptured brain aneurysm in the frontal lobe, just behind the optic nerve. Doctors told family members they couldn't figure out why I was still conscious or even alive, considering the CT scans they had just studied! They reported that "IF" I made it through surgery, I'd most likely be in a vegetative state or blind. I had a full craniotomy done on me and was walking within 4 days! I don't remember, but my church, family and friends said I kept my hands lifted up to my Lord in praise.

There was one particular night that is still so vivid today, though, as I laid in my healing bed watching "Praise the Lord". I can't explain it. There is no way to explain it. All I know is that all of a sudden, His Presence fell so heavily upon me....that I could not move, speak, swallow, or stop the tears from pouring down my face as I felt His love wrap so beautifully around me. That's real. We serve a miracle working God, Katy! The outpouring of His Glory is upon you. The outpouring of His Love has first passed through you, to touch the lives of those who are now surrounding you. Isn't He awesome? He is our Ever Present Help in time of need.

It is my prayer that you find strength to walk in victory through this difficult time, Katy. And, Victory Outreach has asked for a double-portion of God's healing virtue to be upon your life and heart.

God Bless You,
Cristina Santos

Katy,
I am praying that you will have a wonderful day today and that each day afterward will bring you good news and good health. You've got God, your family and friends whom God has blessed you with, and all your very special God-given qualities about you on your side; what else could anyone ask for?
Have an awesome day and may our Lord give us some more good news in the near future. Sperry sends her love and prayers also. We love you.
Love Always,
Pano

Dear Katy,
Yesterday we talked in class about the reasons that some people are able to have courage in difficult circumstances. Students concluded that it is a combination of inner strength, character, and trust in the Lord (Christian school, you know)... I was able to share your story with them. I want you to know that you are making an impact in the midst of this trial! Who knows how many people will be able to face a trial with more courage and trust in God due to your example. May God continue to grant you inner peace, healing, and the courage to persevere. You are making an impact Katy Reel!

Praise God!!

He is continuing to answer all of our prayers; what a Good Lord we have.

Katy, I am praying for you to be supernaturally strengthened, right down to your cells, to withstand treatment and be protected from adverse effects. May the Spirit of God, living in you, fight this battle for you. Rick, Patty, Lenny, Amy, Kit & Heather, I pray for you to know peace, rest, and strength that passes all understanding as you walk with Katy.

For everyone else, may you know the hope the Lord calls each of us to and be faithful in your prayers.

**If anyone is interested in becoming part of a fasting prayer team for the duration of Katy's treatment, please let me know at laurelieone@hotmail.com. I'm looking for 30 people to join so that every day, someone is fasting over Katy and asking the Lord to move mightily that day. Even if you've never fasted before or find it odd, you're welcome to contact me for more information.**

I am still sure of this: we will see the goodness of the Lord for Katy in the land of the living!!

Grace and peace,
Kirsten Guidero

Praise God! So many are praying for you and I feel this is just the beginning of the miracles. A little Bible study my friend leads at a senior living facility is praying for you and asked for a copy of the blog entries so they can feel more in touch to pray for you. Your faith and attitude are humbling and amazing. We think of and pray for you many times a day and will continue to do so. Feels like we know you! There are mountains ahead, but you can get through it with God by your side. We will keep praying.

Katy and family,
Wow Katy it has been forever since I have talked with you. I just found out today from Kim of your cirumstances. I have been trying to get a hold of you since last year, but when I called the cell phone number you used to have some man that only spoke spanish answered and tried very hard to find out if he knew a girl named Katy. I have been praying all day after hearing the news and have been asking everybody in the ER where I work if they know anything about those doctors there and the hospital. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love you and miss you. Along with all the other girls that used to be on our floor at Biola. I know that the Lord can do miracles and I pray that He uses you to show how He can do it. You have always given so much of yourself Katy and I know now that you are receiving so much now from all of those whole love and care about you. I too hope to go out and see you soon. I would love to be able to give you a call sometime just to hear that wonderful voice. I am just so happy that you have been surrounded by everybody who loves you. I now I am going on and on but I just want you to know how truly special you are to me. I love you so much and have always looked up to you and respect you. I will keep getting on this site to hear the updates on you. I love you and will see you soon.

Love Jenny McGivney

Katy - another verse for you to hold on to...

"I will be your God throughout your lifetime -- until your hair is white with age. I made you and I will care for you. I WILL CARRY YOU ALONG AND SAVE YOU."

Holy Father, as your disciples gather to pray, let us be together in the knowledge that Katy and her family are in loving hands. Touch her doctors, Lord, that they may have knowledge to treat her, touch her family, Lord, that they may have strength to stand beside her, Touch Katie, Lord, that she may know, whatever you have planned for her, she will walk daily holding Your hand, and be a faithful servant. And Father, if it be your will, heal her, so that Katy, may gather your people together and testify of Your love and blessings that you offer to us daily.

Praise you Lord, for the hope that you have given with this news, to your children, who await you. In Jesus Christ's name we pray. Amen
