update

Dear Ones,

Just a short note to assure you about Katy. She took the Temodar (chemo in the form of pills) Wednesday , Thursday, Friday and Saturday without incident. No rashes. No swelling. No itching. Evidently Motexafin was the culprit. We do not know what the treatment plan will be for September; she has a MRI scheduled along with an exam by the NeuroOncologist right after Labor Day.

Since she didn't have to go the clinic for infusions Katy flew to San Diego on Friday to join Heather, Dallas, Kit, Wayne and many other friends for a weekend on the beach! Don't worry- there were 3 nurses in the group. Her fatigue seems to have lessened. Thank you, Lord for refreshing sunshine, ocean breezes and sandy beaches.

Love,
Patty and Rick

I'm glad that the kinks are getting worked out of your treatment plan. Hopefully things will continue to get smoother.

Yay for the beach!! I've always felt there's nothing like some sunshine and a beach to make you feel better:)

You are all constantly in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank the Lord for treatment options--especially for one with no adverse side effects!

The beach . . . what a way to celebrate!

Thank you for bringing us good news, especially about the apparent compatability of the new drug.
I can just picture Katy stretched out enjoying the sounds and breeze, with frequent "checks" by her nurse companions.
God bless all of you.

Hi Katy, Glad to hear that the treatments are becoming more tolerable. Also glad to hear that you got some beach time. If you need some more you are always welcome here. September at the Jonathon Club at the Santa Monica beach isn't a bad way to spend some time.
Scott and his family were sorry to have missed you but was glad to spend time with your Mom.
Life is a real mystery sometimes. Before I semiretired I did a lot of merger work with health care companies. I was recently contacted by two biotechs that are merging to help them integrate their operations. Both have multiple new break through immunotherapy cancer therapies in clinical clinical trials that are incredibly exciting. They also have an AIDS and a hepitis B products. Part of the reason that I have agreed to work with them is because of you and your Aunt Sue and that thier products have such potential to help people.
We are going to chicago for Labor Day and then I will be in Indianapolis for a short one day board meeting the following week. I'll give your Dad and Frenchy a call.
Aunt Sue says hello and that you are in her thoughts everyday.
Say hi to your family-tell Amy that I need her e-mail to send her the specification.
Love,
Uncle Chuck
